ABOUT MEREDITH
BIOGRAPHY
Meredith Snyder, PT, DPT, NCPT (she/her)
Movement has been a constant in my life.
I began studying movement in dance class at the age of 3. Over the decades my relationship with movement has evolved, but it’s always been a guiding force.
After a strict pre-professional career in ballet, I gravitated towards modern dance in college. During this time I began to unravel some of the harmful messages I had internalized from the ballet world. Later in college I discovered Pilates as a method of movement that promotes health and longevity. As I gradually transitioned away from performance, my focus turned inward. Movement became less about how it looked and more about how it felt. What a gift!
Today, my movement routine includes a mix of what feels best in my body: Pilates, strength training, and walking. I can’t wait to see how it continues to evolve!
The biggest influence on my movement practice has been the people I’ve worked with.
Over the past 10 years as a Pilates teacher and then a physical therapist, I’ve had the privilege of working with hundreds of people.
I’ve learned that everyone’s body and way of moving is so beautifully unique, influenced by environments, relationships, medical histories, traumas, careers, and hobbies. I’ve seen that humans are brilliantly intuitive, holding the answers we need within ourselves. My patients have inspired me to release myself from one-size-fits-all perfection, listen to my internal conversations, and lead with my intuition.
TLDR.
I hold a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Boston University and a B.S. in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher and I completed The Pilates Center’s 950-hour Advanced Teacher Training Program via InsideOut Body Therapies in Durham, NC under my mentors Mischa Decker and Deborah Matthews. I have participated in extensive pelvic health training through the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute.
